A Home Built
on Sea & Vision

This 900+ sqm property on Gilutongan Island has roots that run as deep as the ocean surrounding it. Originally built by Juliana and Victoriano Menguito, it was more than a home. It was a testament to ambition, resourcefulness, and love for this island.

Victoriano was a fisherman at heart, but his mind never stopped working. He owned his own fishing boat, ran his own trade, and had a gift for seeing what others missed. Recognizing that the island's greatest challenge was fresh water, he engineered a large rainwater catchment system, a remarkable feat that still stands on this property today. Neighbors followed, built their own tanks, and some even built a livelihood from it.

The property passed down through generations, and today half of it is owned by one of his daughters, and the family's love for this island carried forward. What was once their family home is now open to you: a place to gather, to rest, and to feel what it means to truly belong to the sea.

"He saw the sea not as a limit, but as a livelihood, and built a life that the island still remembers."

A Legacy Still Standing

Victoriano's original rainwater catchment system, built by hand when fresh water was a luxury on the island, still stands on the property. A quiet monument to ingenuity and care.

A Living
Underwater World

Gilutongan Island is home to one of Cebu's most celebrated marine sanctuaries. For generations, this island was a quiet fishing community, its people's lives shaped entirely by the sea. But decades of overfishing and reef destruction pushed the ecosystem to the edge.

In 1991, the Gilutongan Marine Sanctuary was established by municipal ordinance to protect what remained. Today, after years of conservation, the reef has flourished into a thriving ecosystem, with coral gardens teeming with life, schools of tropical fish, giant trevally, and orbicular batfish moving through clear, blue water.

With roughly 250,000 tourist arrivals annually, Gilutongan has become one of the most beloved snorkeling and diving destinations in the Philippines, and staying right on the island puts you closer to it than anyone else.

Your Days,
Yours to Fill

Gilutongan offers more than a place to sleep. It's an island with a rhythm of its own. Explore the property, dive into the sanctuary, or hop to the islands surrounding you. Boat arrangements for island hopping can be coordinated on request.
